A strong squad from East Hull Harriers hustled their way to individual and team prizes in Driffield Striders annual Mucky Duck run on Sunday. The Hull club were led home by 21-year-old Jon Frost, whose time of 47 minutes 7 seconds for the 8.5 mile course was one minute outside last year's course record. Clubmate Jonathan Carter (48.03) was second, Phil Taylor (Bridlington Road Runners) third in 49.00. Fourth spot went to RAF Athletics racer Darren Sharpe (50.21). Roger Carr, for host club Driffield Striders, finished 17th in 54.32. Roger was second in the early stages, but then suffered for starting too fast. First woman back was Carrie Milsom (Beverley AC) in 56.37, followed by Karen Ball (Ackworth Road Runners 58.22 and Julie Masterman (Goole Viking Striders) 60.40. Alison Crellin was the first Strider in 60.55. Other Striders' times in the 205-strong field were: Neil Ridsdale 57.24, David Pudsey 62.08, Zoe Porter 64.01, Tim Booth 65.07, Mike Bissell 67.17, Benita Jones 70.45, Karen Parker 71.22, cathy Spence 78.17, Heidi Palmer 79.24. Other team and category awards were: Men (40-44): 1 Darren Rudd (Army), 2 Andrew Watson (East Hull Harriers); 45-49: 1 Kevin Holmes (Unattached), 2 Neil Ridsdale (Striders); 50-54: John Potter (Bridlington RR), 2 David Burdon (Pudsey Pacers); 55-59: 1 Richard Gay (Beverley AC), 2 Tim Welbourn (City of Hull); 60 plus: 1 Roy Bamforth (Pudsey Pacers), 2 Brian Richardson (Beverley). Ladies: 35-39: Lindsay Atkinson (Virgin Active Road Runners), 2 Karan Maddox (Wolds Way to Health); 40-44: 1 Zoe Porter (Striders), 2 Tanya Cream (City of Hull); 45-49: 1 Moira Armstrong (Beverley AC), 2 Jane Dale (Beverley); 50-54: 1 Janet Potter (Bridlington), 2 Trish Cutts (Pudsey); 55-60: Judy Allison (Bridlington), 2 Pam Atkins (Beverley). Team Challenge: Sullivan's Circuits-Helen Southall, Simon Richardson, Peter Welsh. First Driffield Rugby Club player: Tom Ridsdale (60.35). Wolds Way to Health had 17 runners in the event. Twenty-year-old Paul Best was their fastest runner (60.08) followed by Pat Burdass (62.58). The Mucky Duck was preceded by a one-mile Fun Run, which drew a 50 strong field of under 10's, teenagers and adults. Howard Thompson of Brigham was first, followed by Jamie Fulton and Lester Bell. First girl was Rose Shipley, second Abby Wilson and third katherine Smith. *Karen Falcus of Driffield Striders recorded a personal best time in the Muller 10K road race at Market Drayton. Karen ran 49.56 in a 550-strong field.
